Since the passing of the initial farm bill in 2014 hemp and cannabis research has expanded exponentially. The Species itself Cannabis Sativa SP. can be separated into 5 categories at the moment, cannabinoid research is still in its infancy so more categories will likely be created as time passes. As of now heres how it stands.
-
-
Type I – THC-dominant with a concentration of >0.3% and CBD content of <0.5%.
-
Type II – A mixed ratio profile with CBD and THC in varying moderate concentrations, almost always presenting as CBD-forward.
-
Type III – CBD-dominant with low THC content that provides little to no intoxication.
-
Type IV – Contain low levels of THC but with potent percentages of CBGA, or cannabigerol-acid, the raw stem cell cannabinoid from which all other cannabinoids synthesize during plant growth.
-
Type V – This chemotype refers to cannabis plants that produce little to no cannabinoid content (cannabinoid-null or -zero).
-
Since we have that all straightened out, let’s talk about hemp seed classifications according to current law. This isn’t legal advice, but since the seeds of the Cannabis Sativa SP. plant do not contain over 0.3% THC (<0.3%) seeds are federally classified as hemp, and as such are fully legal, for commerce, transport, sale, ect.
